The change is classified according to the classifications identified in the Change Management Framework. Examples of
classifications include:
-
Urgent Change
-
Preapproved or standard change
-
Request not within policy
-
All other change requests
Assign a change model (if an appropriate one exists) and assign the change to a change owner.
Normal management controls are not sacrificed with urgent changes. The change will still go through the process,
although the speed at which changes are approved, built and tested is much faster. Also, it may not be possible to
update all Change Management records at the time that urgent actions are being completed (e.g. during overnight or
weekend working). It is, however, essential that manual records are made during such periods, that all records are
updated retrospectively.
The classification of each change will be recorded.
Standard changes should be updated by this task to indicate that they are preauthorized without having to go through
assessment and authorized.
