The ITSC Manager oversees all IT service continuity processes as an overall part of Business Continuity Management and represents IT in Business Continuity Management. This individual is a senior IT manager who has good IT technical knowledge and can communicate at all levels of an organization.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures continuity of IT services in the event of a major outage
  • Ensures recovery of IT services to a normal condition
  • Ensures that continuity can be provided for all new and updated IT services
  • Works to proactively enhance IT service continuity
  • Produces and maintains the IT Service Continuity Strategy
  • Produces and maintains an IT Service Continuity Plan
  • Regularly reviews the IT Service Continuity Plan to ensure that it is up to date and meets the needs of the business
  • Performs regular testing to ensure that all IT organizations are able to carry out the IT Service Continuity Plan
  • Assesses potential continuity incidents and advises concerning the invocation of the IT Service Continuity Plan
  • Manages the IT Service Continuity Plan while it is in operation
  • Manages the restoration of IT services from a continuity provider to its original state
  • Performs reviews of continuity situations and makes improvements to the IT Service Continuity Plan as needed
  • Participates on the Change Advisory Board (CAB) as needed
  • Represents the IT organization within the Business Continuity function
  • Ensures that ITSCM plans align with Business Continuity plans
  • Carries out the Process Manager responsibilities for the IT Service Continuity Management process
