Key Considerations

The different states of knowledge include the following:

  • Appraised and Structured - Knowledge that has been assessed according to predefined evaluation and quality criteria (e.g. checking for relevance, testing, scrutinizing, etc.) Knowledge that has been structured so that it can be published in any knowledge management repository or otherwise made available to satisfy knowledge requests.
  • Unstructured - Knowledge that has been acquired but not yet has been evaluated and structured. Can be documented or tacit knowledge.
