The plan should include the following: management summary, business scenarios, service summary, resource summary,
options for improvement, cost model, and recommendations. Produce tactical and strategic recommendations with
sufficient details to allow for informed decision making (i.e.. costs, benefits, risks, resources, schedules, priority,
implementation approach, etc.). It should include SLA recommendations, threshold definitions, and alarm definitions.
Calculate cost for additional capacity and quantify benefits. If excess capacity exists, calculate savings to remove or
reallocate. Estimate cost and impact if do nothing.
The Capacity Plan merges into the Service Management Plans, which is a collection of plans produced by the various
individual processes involved in Service Management.
If the Capacity Plan requires an investment or resource reallocation decision, IT Portfolio Management is a key
recipient of the Service Management Plans.
