Role: Release Specialist
The Release Specialist is responsible for designing, building, testing, distributing, installing and activating an assigned release (including execution of back-out procedures if available and needed). Often, this role will be split further into a Release Design Specialist, Release Build Specialist, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Updates status of release
  • Builds the release
  • Creates and participates in the test of the release
  • Carries out the test plan to its completion
  • Prepares a remediation plan in the case of unsuccessful implementation of the release
  • Creates Implementation Plan
  • Updates manuals and/or operating instructions when applicable
  • Notifies the Release Manager and the Change Manager of unsuccessful release builds
  • Performs a full-fledged test of the release from a functional perspective
  • Communicates any issues detected during the functional test to the Release Assignee
  • Performs a full-fledged test of the installation procedures
  • Communicates any issues detected during the test of the installation procedures to the Release Owner
  • Performs a full-fledged test of the remediation plan
  • Communicates any issues detected during the test of the remediation plan to the Release Owner
