Software Asset Management
Software Asset Management is an ITIL® book that describes the activities involved in acquiring, providing, and
maintaining IT assets. This includes everything from obtaining or building an asset until its final retirement from the
infrastructure, and many other activities in that lifecycle, including rolling it out, operation and optimization,
licensing and security compliance, and control of assets.
Even though it is entitled Software Asset Management, many of the same activities could also be applied to Hardware
Asset Management.
