Deployment Management carries out deployment of authorized releases. See the Release Management Key Concepts.
Releases are typically deployed either as part of a "push" roll-out to selected systems within the IT infrastructure or
in response to a service request. The type of deployment performed is governed by a deployment model.
Deployment is often a complex set of tasks that require an overall deployment plan for a specific
release. Deployment involves not only distributing and installing hardware, software, and other resources, but
also arranging for assets to be moved, support to be provided, and ownership of CIs to be transferred.
Once a release has been deployed, a review may be conducted to verify that deployment was successful.
Deployment may include early life support. If the deployment was successful, then operation and support of the deployed CIs become the responsibility of the Service
Execution process. The deployment plan is then considered to be closed.
Deployment may be to a variety of targets, including end user systems, servers, or media
libraries.
