IBM® Tivoli® Netcool/OMNIbus provides both automated and manual methods for Event Closure. Events are set to Clear (ISO
Severity 0) to indicate that the problem or parent root cause Alarm has been resolved as described in the tool TNO - Resolve Event
Once an Event has been resolved then it will be automatically deleted from the ObjectServer database which is designed
to hold only active events. The Resolved events will be held in the ObjectServer for a configurable period of time,
default two minutes, allowing sufficient time for the state change to be transferred to the logs or archive gateway for
historical reporting. A context sensitive tool is also available supporting closure by manual deletion. The manual
Closure should be restricted to Administrators familiar with the background archive processes to protect audit and
archive requirements.
