IBM® Tivoli® License Compliance Manager (TLM) identifies distributed software inventory to help manage software costs and contract compliance in the distributed environment. This software asset management solution enables IT to align software spending with business priorities. With the information provided, organizations can reduce unnecessary software costs and compliance risk to allocate additional resources to priority projects.

The Web-based GUI simplifies the work of a software asset manager who needs to quickly obtain the information needed to make decisions.

TLM consolidates information about products installed and used for either simple or complex software (like bundles). It controls the way a license is to be used through predefined license types, reports on compliance situations and unlicensed used, and it supports the creation of license information through electronic entitlement file import.

Another feature is maintaining historical software use information and providing convenient XML exportable reports. The reports are available in both online and batch mode that assist in forward planning for license needs by comparing figures for created, installed, and used licenses. It can also generate alerts when license use reaches a defined level.

The flexible architecture enables you to scale the installation to fit your needs while ensuring security of your confidential information. Security is maintained during Internet transmissions through security profiles and data encryption.

If you are licensed for IBM software products under terms and conditions that are processor-based, you are required to produce a report detailing the use or installation of that product to IBM. Tivoli License Compliance Manager is the tool you must use to track use or presence of such software products and to generate the required report. TLM relies on independent, customizable software installation scans.
