Main Description

IT Service Continuity Management plans for handling unexpected major service outages, often referred to as disaster planning.  IT service continuity affects business continuity (business impact analysis).  IT Service Continuity Management is closely related to the management of continuity on the business side, often referred to as business continuity management.  The highest level of responsibility for managing continuity in the event of a disaster or major outage is the Crisis Management Team.

Continuity planning involves considering

IT Service Continuity Management analyzes different recovery option for recovering services.  The end result is an IT Service Continuity Plan.

This process also initiates invocation of the IT Service Continuity Plan.  Hopefully, this plan will never be needed.  All related directives are enacted via change requests that are sent to Change Management.

Once a major outage occurs, the plans are enacted.  The crisis is managed by the Crisis Management Team.  This continues until the services can be restored to normal operation.
